Berthold Wehmeyer
(* 1925, " 12. May 1949) was the last prisoner executed in West Berlin.
It became to 12. May 1949 in the institute for remand Moabit by the drop
hatchet killed.
Only few days later (to 23. May 1949)
was abolished with announcing the Basic Law the death penalty in the
Federal Republic of Germany. In West Berlin, which formally did not
belong until 1990 to the area of application of the Basic Law, the death
penalty was legally abolished on 20 January 1951.
Berthold Wehmeyer was executed
because of murder with robbery. He had shot a cashier at a food shop
with a hand-held weapon and had captured then approx. 100 DM from the
cash.
It became 24
years old.
