Harry K. Thaw, ca. 1905. In 1906 Thaw shot and killed world-famous
architect Stanford White in the roof theater at Madison Square
Garden. White had had an affair with Thaw's young wife Evelyn Nesbit
before their marriage, and the jury found Thaw criminally insane for
the jealousy-motivated killing. He spent nearly twenty years in an
institution before being released in 1924.

Harry Kendall Thaw takes a swin in Atlantic City the day
following his release from prison on $35,000 bail. Thaw was accused
of the murder of architect Standford White, but freed pending the
hearing of the prosecution's appeal against the decision of Supreme
Court Justice Hendricks that Thaw was sane.

Evelyn Nesbit, the celebrated ideal Gibson Girl of New York society,
in a romantic profile portrait holding a rose. She was involved as a
young girl with the noted architect Stanford White, who kept many
very young, beautiful mistresses and aided them financially. Later
her wealthy, eccentric husband, Harry K. Thaw, shot White to death,
motivated by jealous obsession.

of America's top show girls ant the central figure in the Harry K.
Thaw shooting of Architect Stanford White, has been in Los Angeles
for the past 6 years teaching ceramics and sculptor. Shown in her
small studio here, Miss Nesbit revealed that the younger generation
are not aware of her past but their grandmothers chat with her about
it.
