Jack "Murph the Surf" Murphy is escorted to the Miami Beach Police station by detectives Jan. 28, 1968,

Jack "Murph the Surf" Murphy, serving life sentences for murder and armed robbery, gestures as he makes a point to a group of teenage boys from Youth Hall in Miami who were brought to Raiford prison near Starke, Fla., Oct. 30, 1978. Murphy admonished the boys to turn away from a life of crime that would surely land them in prison.

 

 

In 1986, Murphy began going back into prisons and jails all over the U.S.
as a platform guest with Bill Glass.

 

 

Murphy has spoken in over 1,200 prisons around the world.

 

 

Upon his release from prison in 1985, Murf soon returned to prison—this time as a featured platform guest,
speaking to inmates about his 21 years behind bars and boldly proclaiming the Gospel of Christ. 

 

 

Murf was the keynote speaker in Jerusalem during the 1st World Conference on Crime Prevention
and Recidivism through Religion.
