March 1, 1973 - Santa Cruz, California: In a surprise twist, Herbert Mullin, 26, pleaded guilty to
committing ten murders in the Santa Cruz area last month. Appearing before Municipal Judge
Donald May, Mullin first pleaded no lo contendre. Judge May refused the pleas. Then Mullen
pleaded guilty, again Judge May refused the pleas.
