German court sentences Czech to life for girl's rape, murder

Bonn - A German court imposed a life sentence on Czech Zdenek Hrbac, 26, for having raped a 14-year girl and stabbing her to death.

Hrbac confessed to the crime after his arrest in September.

The man who worked as a car-mechanic in Bonn has been living in Germany for about five years.

He assaulted the girl on August 29. He tied her up and gagged her. He pulled the victim to an empty bus where he raped her. Then he stabbed the girl outside the bus where she bled to death and he hid the corpse in a ditch.

DNA tests of Hrbac's saliva helped to identify him as the murderer. He told the police he, being homosexual, wanted to experience sex with a woman. When he raped the girl, he got afraid and stabbed her, he said.

Three months after the murder of a 14-year old girl in Oberollendorf, 25-year-old Zdenek Hrbac was sentenced to life imprisonment today at the regional court in Bonn. He was accused of having raped 14-year-old Hannah and of stabbing her to death.

In Germany delinquents who were sentenced to life imprisonment have the opportunity to be released after 15 years if they conduct good during imprisonment. In the case of Hrbac the judge considered the crime so brutal that he won't be given the chance to be released after 15 years already.

Hrbac confessed that on August, 29, he was waiting for Hannah who was on her way home, tied her up and gagged her before he brought her to a bus station and pulled her into an emty bus, where he raped her. Then he stabbed the girl let the corpse in the nearby bushes. DNA tests of Hrbac's saliva helped to identify him as the murderer.

After he had been arrested, he told the police that he is homosexual and that he wanted to experience sex with a woman. When he raped the girl, he got afraid and stabbed her, he said.
